Shot blasting (or bead blasting) a concrete surface will clean and profile it with a textured, sandpaper like finish.
Grinding concrete is a more versatile way to clean and profile a concrete surface. This is due to the wide array of grinding materials allowing for cleaning, profiling, coating removal and polishing.
Coating removal can be accomplished by shot blasting, grinding, and scraping. The method used will often be determined by what coating is being removed and how well it is bonded to the concrete surface in order to prevent damage to the concrete surface itself.
Concrete polishing is accomplished by grinding the concrete surface multiple times with fine grit diamonds. It will leave a mirror like finish.
Epoxy coatings are best applied to a properly cleaned and profiled surface. Epoxy can come in many different colors and can be specially formulated for specific applications such as: Acid Resistance for forklift battery charging stations, ESD Protection for facilities requiring electrostatic discharge protection.
Colored concrete stains can be applied for decorative purposes. Concrete sealers can provide added moisture and stain protection.
